Rainbow Publishers began in the mid-nineties as a small family publishing venture, headed up by John L. Hayes in Vancouver BC. The press published five titles over the next few years but had to retire their activities due to health challenges at the time. In the spirit of its original founding member, the press was taken up by extended family member Peter P. Southam and Diana E. Hayes in 2019. Raven Chapbooks, an imprint of Rainbow Publishers, began in 2019 with a focus on emerging and established poets in British Columbia.

Rainbow Publishers titles in print:

  • Coming Home — An Anthology of Poems (with an introduction by Brian Brett)
  • Limericks in the Time of Covid (co-sponsored by ArtSpring, Salt Spring Public Library, and the Salt Spring Foundation)
  • Gold in the Shadow: Twenty-Two Ghazals and a Cento for Phyllis Webb
  • A Dancer’s Pilgrimage by Lolla Devindisch

As resources become available, Rainbow Publishers will continue to produce fine, beautifully designed and crafted books in multiple genres including short fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. We are not accepting manuscripts at this time but will post notices here as our plans develop.
